Set Up Work Locations

Overview

Work locations represent the physical locations where your employees perform work.

Zeal uses work locations to determine the correct state and local taxes, minimum wage requirements, overtime rules, and other jurisdiction-specific payroll calculations.

Every employee must have a default work location before payroll can be processed.

Before You Begin

Before creating work locations, make sure you’ve:

  • Completed Company Onboarding

  • Completed Tax Setup (recommended)

Create a Work Location

Navigate to:

Organization → Work Locations

Select Add Work Location in the upper-right corner.

Complete the required information for the location, including:

  • Work location name

  • Physical address

  • Phone number (optional)

  • Work Site ID (optional)

Select Save to create the work location.

Note: Work locations must use a valid physical address. PO Boxes should not be used.

Manage Work Locations

The Work Locations page displays all locations associated with your company.

From this page you can:

  • Search for a work location by name, ID, or state

  • View work location details

  • Edit existing work locations

  • Add additional work locations as your business grows

Why Work Locations Matter

Every employee has a default work location that is used for payroll calculations unless a different location is specified on an individual shift.

Work locations help Zeal determine:

  • Applicable federal, state, and local taxes

  • Minimum wage requirements

  • Overtime rules

  • Payroll reporting requirements

If an employee works from multiple locations, you can assign a different work location to individual shifts without changing their default location.
